D’Artagnan! Great to see you continuing your work with SJLI through the Hub! Really love that you’ll be adding to the dialogue in the social innovation space. Much peace and much love, Evan
Meet D’Artagnan Scorza, Executive Director of the Social Justice Learning Institute. The SJLI is dedicated to advancing social justice by empowering communities through education, training, and programs that help to address their needs.
Why did you choose to become a Hub LA member?
I decided to join HUB LA because of the people. Knowing that there were emerging entrepreneurs, civic leaders and changemakers in one space called to me…I am happy I answered.
What are you most excited about regarding your Hub LA membership?
I’m most excited about connecting with other members in the space. There are amazing people here everyday with quite a bit of brain power concentrated on projects that will have enormous impact.
Do you have a personal philosophy/credo that informs your work and who you want to be as a community member?
Yes, I believe that we must privilege the ideas, voice and leadership of our youth and community members, that everyone must be afforded equal opportunity in order to achieve equity and that all things must be done in love. These principles guide my interactions with others as I recognize the privilege I have to be in such a space.
What are some of your new goals that you hope to achieve or ways in which you hope to grow now that you are a Hub LA member?
My goals are help build up others who need resources and support where I have expertise and capacity. I also hope to lean on others in the same way.
What’s your idea of a perfect LA day (given that you have a jetpack and don’t have to sit in traffic)? Don’t forget to include your favorite spot for a bite of food!
Being an Angeleno, I have so many favorite places. But my most favorite spot is at the top of Mulholland Drive at night where most of the city lights up. It’s a great place to take a date! I’ve also become very fond a local restaurant called Heart and Soul (has some of the best Gumbo in LA) near where I live in Inglewood.
